"Joseph Prince"
Joseph Prince (born May 15, 1963, Singapore) is the senior pastor of New Creation Church in Singapore, one of Asia's biggest churches. He was one of the church's founders in 1983.
Joseph Prince, the son of a Sikh priest of Indian origin and a Chinese mother,
spent his primary school years in Perak, Malaysia.
Prince changed his birth name to Joseph Prince during his previous occupation as an IT consultant.
Prince has been invited to preach at churches in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Indonesia, Norway,
the Netherlands, South Africa and the United States.
Notably, he was invited to preach at the Grace & Favour Seminar
at Hillsong Church Sydney, and Hillsong London in 2006.
In 2007, 2008 and 2012, he was invited to speak at the Hillsong Conferences in Sydney and London.
In 2009, he was invited to speak, alongside Joel Osteen from Lakewood Church,
at the 2 Days of Hope Conference held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Prince's TV program Destined to Reign is broadcast in more than 150 countries. His broadcast program is also streamed online through Internet and podcasts for viewers. Prince publishes books, CDs and DVDs.[10] In 2007, his book Destined to Reign: The Secret to Effortless Success, Wholeness and Victorious Living, which contains teachings from his ten years of preaching from 1997 to 2007, was published in Singapore and the US. Six months after the book's US release, it was listed as one of Christian Retailing's Top 100 Books. In 2010, Prince's latest book "Unmerited Favor" was published worldwide by Charisma House. This book contains errors this website fights against, which do not relate to the so called grace-message, but to other doctrinal erors accepted by his dispensational heritage. Prince there fails to see the sin in the manipulative business strategy's (manipulation is sin) by people that are not born again in his second book (Unmerited Favor). But the good things in his ministry are of such quality that we don't want to withhold these from you. So without a doubt we advise the first book for you to read.
We want to point out to you that Prince noted concerning his so called Grace-message that GRACE is NOT A Message but a PERSON. Referring to Jesus Christ.
Some call Prince a Cheap Grace preacher, to which he firmly responded that they should tell the Father that, that His Sons dying on the Cross was cheap!
Grace does not only forgive Your sin but is also a power to live by! I cannot defend every ministry that has invited Joseph Prince in that they live by the force of Grace! (I sadly recognize that I would be able to name some who do not live by powers of grace but more on principles of present day commerce, and business principles.) But surely, Grace as a force to live by, that is how Joseph Prince lives himself, and I firmly believe we should also!
Prince was featured in the cover story of the June 2010 issue of Charisma magazine, which covered his preaching and teaching ministry.
On October 29, 2011, Prince ministered in the US for the first time at Lakewood Church, America's largest church, in Houston, Texas. He also preached at two more services the day after.
On the salary and rewarding issue regarding Prince's salary has been written several things on wikipedia. Personally I believe more in matching an pastors income with that of the church members. But this has not been the way that churches in the charismatic prosperity movement have been dealing with it. Shortly the problem is that most have alined prosperity and poverty as the only positions, while a third way should be walked out and promoted, which would be called the stewardship position. In that position a pastors income does not necessarily grow with the amount of people but with the part-time to full-time position and the wealth of the congregation.
The place of the law
The place of the law can never take the place of the grace and mercy that Jesus brought. Joseph Princes' answer to the people that say that he is against the law is this: "I am not against the law. We are for the law, for the purpose for which God created the law. That is to condemn man, bring him to the end of himself. See, we have preached the law to the point that it became keepable. Jesus did not do that: He said: "If your hand offend you, cut it off, if your eye offend you, plug it out." So we can conclude that we need to explain the law the way Jesus did to understand that we all need His grace and mercy!
We therefore see that the Jews in the first century did it the same way as many Christians today do, they lived the most well moral live of all the people in the known world... but their leaders still crucified the Son of God himself. Why? They made their form of obedience to God keepable, while never dealing with the issue of lust for power, and lust for money! Which were the basic reasons why the Jewish leader of the FIRST CENTURY killed Jesus (Acts 2:23; 3:13-15; 4:10-11; 5:28-30). Grace brings the moral live back to original intent, the heart! This is the reason why the preaching of Peter in Acts 2 had such an impact, though he condemned his hearers for asking the blood of the Jesus of Nazareth. (Acts 2:22-23; 36-41).
The Kingdom Movement does not stop by the purpose of using the law to explain the need for grace, the person of Jesus Christ, and his sacrifice, though this is the essential basis of the Christian life, it sees still another purpose. The Gospel of Salvation is the basis for the Gospel of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God has to advance over those who do not, or depending on personal choice, not yet, embrace the Grace-life of Jesus Christ. How can this be done? By enforcement of the principals of the law. Though it will never lead to pure holiness and righteousness, a business, a school, a corporation, a foundation, a municipality, a region, a nation, a agreement between nations, the international law and order, they all need laws to keep the order and not destroy it from the inside out.
Therefore the Christian life itself is based not on the law, but on the principles of mercy and grace.
The laws are enforced to bring boundaries.
The man without Christ but knowing the laws of Moses applied to the land, because it's culture accept them as truth
(they even have been implied in their local laws) he will still lust, for example, but he will not rape.
He might still be money focused, but will not steal.
Is he saved? No! Is he a law abiding citizen that adds well things to society? Probably, yes!
We need to keep pushing both Gospels forward.
The Gospel of Salvation where the law is needed for the acceptance,
and receiving of the Grace of Jesus Christ and as power to draw from
the Gospel of the Kingdom where the law is needed for those who do not yet live by the power of the Grace of Jesus Christ
to maintain divine order and justice.
Do not be deceived Jesus reigns already by these Gospels.
"30 Therefore, [King David] being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him [king David] that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He [God] would raise up the CHRIST to sit on HIS THRONE,
31 he [David], foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the CHRIST, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ‘The LORD [YaHuWeH / Κύριος =Kurios] said to my Lord [Adonai / Κυρίω =Κύριος =Kurios => Jesus], "Sit at My right hand,
35 Till I make YOUR ENEMIES [JESUS', the Lord of vs. 34] YOUR FOOTSTOOL."’
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this JESUS, whom YOU [Jews of the first century] CRUCIFIED, both LORD [Greek translation of the Divine Name of God, YaHuWeH, compare Septuagint [LXX] and Hebrew OT] and CHRIST [KING on the THRONE of David]."
(Acts 2:30-36, taken out of the NKJV)
Let us preach both Gospels! The Gospel of Salvation by Jesus [JaHoshuwah = JaH[uWeH] saves] and the Gospel of the Kingdom, Jesus, the Son of David, who presently sees by His command to His Church (Matthew 28:18-20), the Divine Spirit through His Church, make HIS ENEMIES HIS FOOTSTOOL.
The Kingdom of God is the subject in John 3. To say it even clearer, the focus in John 3 is more on entering the Kingdom of God than on being saved. More on the Gospel of the Kingdom than the Gospel of Salvation. But it is that if we are not birthed by water and spirit, we cannot enter the Kingdom of God. This stands for the process of the new birth, in which water and spirit are the necessary elements. This speaks spiritually about the word, represented by water, and the Spirit of God which needs to illuminate the mind. The Kingdom cannot be entered without a violent process of radical change. Except through being a born again Christian, the Kingdom cannot be entered. But even the enemies of Christ will be subdued by this Kingdom.
It is in this explanation the Kingdom movement explains the law and grace, and claims grace as the power to live by, and excel the standards of the law of Moses.
We have to note the reformed movement who never succeeded in finding the right way of dealing with the law. This is probably for the most due to the teaching called Calvinism, which should be condemned as unscriptural (See this page for more information on Calvinism. Sorry for my English readers it is in a combination of Dutch and English.)
The other reason why reformed and Pentecostals and Charismatics and even many Kingdom fathers never understood the way how to handle the subject of the law rightly, is found in the "Illegitimate Totality Transfer". Which is applied on words like "μετάνοια" (metanoia = change of mind, verb = μετανοέω =metanoeõ), (σωτηρία (sotēria, verb = "σωζώ" (Soidzõ) and less in "γέεννα" (gehenna = lake of fire). (With having written this, I directly want to add that I keep believing in doing the right thing, concerning "μετάνοια" (metanoia = change of mind) and in a hell, concerning "γέεννα" (gehenna = lake of fire), because many people might read things I didn't wrote.) If these things are considered we come to the higher form of dealing with the law, which was intended by the writers of the New Testament, and the former protestant movements could not attain to because of a lack of knowledge.
But also we should consider the choice that Calvinists have, that is either the adherence of their doctrine of error because of a focus on power, influence and politics or the adherence of this message, with a place for the Gospel of Salvation and the Gospel of the Kingdom in doctrine because of a focus on Christ.
Though to some misguided Calvinists, who still really believe their failing theories, it is a focus on God. They claim their God must look astonishing. Instead of realizing that God Himself wanted to look as astonishing as shown by the Son (John 14:8-13). And thus we must fight for Jesus Christ looking astonishing! If we are not focussing on Christ, never God will be appropriately explained nor exalted! The election of the saved for the divine Kingdom is in Christ! Christ was elected! Those who have put their faith in Christ, will look back realizing that, Gods foreseeing, led to save them. And his intent in this has always been, from their birth. But the election was not based on a vague election of God, between who to save and not to save, but of God electing Christ!
There are only two people on the planet, Adam and the Second Adam, Adam and Christ, the beauty and the beast. Who do Calvinist think they are? Being elected? Christ was elected, and those who are in Christ, find themselves by Grace and Mercy in Christ as well elected. But do not boast, because also you can be cut off of the inheritance of the saints, which is only in Christ, by Grace! (Romans 11:17-22)
